History

The Ecodolie Group was founded in October 2007. The first investor was the largest direct investment fund in Eastern Europe – Baring Vostok Private Equity Fund IV.

In August 2011 the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development signed a subscription agreement and purchased the blocking share of the Company.

Baring Vostok Capital Partners

Baring Vostok Capital Partners specializes on direct investments in countries of the former Soviet Union and is an advisor to four direct investment funds including Baring Vostok Private Equity Fund IV. The raised capital of Baring Vostok funds totals $2.2 billion. Since 1994 the funds have invested over $1.6 billion in over 55 projects in Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. These projects include a number of successful projects in financial services, oil and gas industry, telecommunications and mass media including Yandex, Etalon, ER-Telecom, Volga Gas, Zhaikmunaygaz, Orient Express Bank and Ecodolie.

Baring Vostok Capital Partners is a leader in direct investments in Russia.  Each year since 2005 it has been recognized as the Russian Direct Investment Company of the Year by readers of Private Equity Online and Private Equity International. In 2011 Investor Allstars Venture Capital Awards recognized the investment of Baring Vostok in Yandex as the best venture investment.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

This is an international financial organization that finances projects in 29 countries from Central Europe to Central Asia. The EBRD is the largest investor in the region employing both own funds and large amounts of foreign direct investments.

The EBRD strives to help Russia in further economic recovery after the recession, diversification and overcoming natural resources dependency. In 2012 the Bank financed a record number of projects in countries with transition economies - 388 for the total amount of EUR 8.7 billion, and Russia received about EUR 2.6 billion therefrom, or 30% of all the Bank’s investments. In 2013 and onward the EBRD intends to focus on financing projects in the sectors ensuring sustainable economic recovery and future growth.
